CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
INSPIRES PRAISE
Christmas 2009 is already history as we
plunge forward into 2010 but it is good to pause and remember how we were
blessed during the recent Advent and Christmas season, especially by the
musical program and pageant on December 13. Many thanks again to Dhonna
Goodale and the Riverhead Building Supply Singers for all their
inspirational music which was woven into the overall program. Particular
thanks to Dhonna for creating and directing the opening contemporary scenes
portraying playful children, a homeless family, and a soldier far from home.
Thanks for all the extra effort this year from our Old Steeple children and
adults who took part in the pageant and the leaders, teachers, and parents
who rehearsed with and supported them. And thanks to those who helped with
the food and fellowship afterwards.
This was the first time in recent memory that
we have held the pageant on a Sunday Evening and the attendance was very
good. Everyone was touched by this dramatic telling of the Christmas story.
Someone said, “This was a great Christmas program for goose bumps!”
The special offering provided $340 to be
shared evenly with Maureen’s Haven for the Homeless and the Old Steeple
Soldier project. In both mission programs we are reaching out to people with
real needs as portrayed in the program.
May the gentle yet powerful Spirit of the One
whose birth we have just celebrated, stir our hearts to new words and deeds
of faith-filled love in this New Year.
